Without our team, we would not be where we are

Khab Architects is a dedicated architecture practice passionate about the work we do. We are an agile team of skilled listeners, strategic thinkers, and effective problem solvers who believe that good design can have a deep effect on well-being, can express identity and connect people to place.

Khab’s project types include residential, tourism, commercial, educational and community, and we have a deep interest in projects that have a strong social, cultural and environmental agenda.

Our capabilities cover the full architectural process from project feasibility and brief development in collaboration with clients, through rigorous design and technical stages in collaboration with other disciplines, to the administration of construction contracts. We are highly responsive to project parameters and are adept at optimising design outcomes for clients and end users, while effectively managing budget and timelines.

Khab are award-winning designers, clever thinkers, and responsible professionals. We continually strive for excellent outcomes in all that we take part in.

Adam Brown

Director

  • Adam is a dad and husband.  He is a traveller and likes an adventure.

Adam is an all rounder.  He likes to build a model with glue and draw with a pencil but can confidently navigate the digital realm -  Is probably more of an introvert but capable in front of a crowd and amongst a project team – A creative dreamer balanced by a good practical backbone – Likes to build, garden, and fix things but enjoys time with a sketchbook – likes to kick a ball, throw a bottom turn, hike up a mountain, but also happy to play the piano and read a book – loves family and loves solitude.

In this way, Adam exemplifies the architect as a jack of all trades.  Adam brings this balance, holistic perspective, and breadth of interests to his projects with over 20 years of experience working in the industry, in several offices, in several cities, on all sorts of projects.

Kirsty Hewitt

Director

  • Growing up Kirsty spent holidays with family staying at her grandparents tiny shack on the Murray river, where the direct connection between basic shelter, environment and people triggered a lasting interest in how simple, considered architecture can encourage our connection to each other and the landscape. While the intent is so simple, she finds it a fabulous challenge to create a place that feels like it belongs in its setting.

Kirsty is active and loves exploring new places, cultures and landscapes. She has lived, travelled and practiced in various cities and countries, before settling back in Adelaide in the early 2000’s – to begin the ultimate balancing act of parenting while running first a sole architecture practice, then Khab with Adam.

Kirsty strives to ensure Khab deliver quality projects for the people who will engage with them. She is an organised leader and collaborator, prioritising relationship building, careful listening and clear communication as a means to ensure project success.

While Kirsty loves to create architecture that encourages a depth of experience and engagement, she finds it equally rewarding working on simple good design that is accessible to all in the community.
